All too often assessment is viewed as an “end of instruction test” that many times seems punitive in nature rather than a tool to enhance learning. A sound assessment system broadens that perception to include any and all ways that assessment data is gathered that enlightens teaching and motivates students to want to learn more.
To that end it is imperative that teachers create a balanced assessment system that includes a variety of strategies that assess students “for learning” and “of learning” and where the results encourage student achievement and inform teaching practices.
Susan offers a variety of assessment workshops and presentation topics that include:
- Analyzing Current Assessment Practices
- Creating a Balanced Assessment System
- Designing Assessment Practices that Match Desired Learning Outcomes
- Designing Scoring Rubrics
- Creating quality test items
- Test-taking Strategies
- Portfolio Development
